As I begin to start up another blogger year I look back on the posts from a year ago and all the memories that I have compiled over a year. Exactly one year ago I was visiting Ryan in his newest home in Bled a few hours from me and watching his preseason matches. Now I must settle for hearing about his matches via Skype which unfortunately don’t come with guided canoe rides across lakes, as he is embarking on his new adventures in Piacenza, Italy. Still, luckily only a mere 5 hours away from me..and lucky for him, he’s in Italy.

I have decided to take on another year in Maribor, Slovenia! We just returned from a tour of Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. A trip I will treasure forever. When I decided to go out of state for college to Texas A&M I gave up the ease of my family being able to watch me play. As fate would have it, my very first college match was scheduled at CSU. A 5 game match win in at a great Moby Arena atmosphere that I will never forget. Playing in front of a home crowd filled with friends and family meant so much to me. Once again the stars aligned, and my Slovenian team had a trip scheduled to the states, and none other than right in my back yard. 

The first stop was in Utah where I also have family and was able to spend time with which was awesome! Then we continued to Colorado where my team was able to see where I grew up. We had the chance to take them to my house where my mom prepared an excellent mexican fiesta and we got to show off our beautiful house and celebrate my Grandma’s birthday who flew in from Alabama…a very special evening overall. As we continued playing matches against surrounding colleges my family was able to follow us with posters and sporting their Slovenian memorabilia like true fans. Not too long ago they were decked out from head to toe in Maroon Aggie, and now they were plastered in wonderful Maribor colors ;) My team loved every bit of it!

Now we are safely back in Maribor and ready to start a new season! Our first game is on October 2nd and we are on the grind of 2 a days in preparation! I can’t think of any better way to start off our season than in front of my family and friends, very much makes me feel like I am in the right place!
