Apartment living..Part 1..

Today marks the exact 1 month date of arriving back in Slovenia. They must have known this because for my 1 month present, the club gave me the gift of moving out of the hotel!! Free at last free at last!

Don’t get me wrong, living in the hotel was not bad. For the first few weeks it was actually glorious, I was very spoiled. My room was cleaned every day, I had 3 free meals a day at the restaurant, including an awesome breakfast buffet complete with croissants that literally melt in your mouth. I enjoyed myself, but after a few weeks of luxury living I was getting restless. Mainly because all of my belongings were still packed in bags, living out of a suitcase (or 4 in my case) gets pretty old pretty quick.

Also the only way to do my laundry was to give it to my teammates, and I do not like putting that burden on them, being the annoying girl who always has dirty clothes to wash, not ideal. But one of the girls Ana, on my team, her mother was happy to do my laundry weekly and every time it came back to me not only folded, but ironed. Everything. Even my t-shirts! I had never heard of such a thing in my life! Pretty awesome.

At the beginning of hotel living I was by myself in a single room, then about half way through, because of lack of space in the hotel, my other teammate who is also waiting on an apartment, Ursa,  became my roommate in a bigger room, and we crammed all of our many bags and clothes into a room with 2 twin beds.

As each week passed we anxiously awaited the answer to when we would be moving into our apartments, and each week we would get the same response.. “Soon!” Oh goodie, in euro language that means “Don’t hold your breath because you just might not make it.”

Finally the day came when we were given keys! Oh the joy! But…there was a catch, we would only be living in this apartment for 14 days because it will be renovated this year and there is no space in the hotel for us so we need to move here temporarily.

The great news is, the apartment that I will be permanently in when all of this comes together is going to be tooootally worth the wait.

1) it will be literally steps from Cory (my agent) and his family (Andreja and their 2 daughters, 3 months and 2 1/2) We’re going to be NEIGHBORS!

2) it is pretty much a brand new apartment and very spacious. I am very very excited.

For now I am relieved to be out of the hotel and spread out a little bit more than being in a cramped hotel room. Down side, food will not be free..but plus side, we have a washing machine!! (but I don’t think I will carry on the ironing tradition haha)  :)

In volleyball news: We won our home opener last weekend in 4! We are going to Budapest, Hungary to play matches Thursday and Friday this week. This is a place I have never been and have heard great things about so can’t wait for a new adventure!
