Bringing the Halloween spirit to Maribor!!

Halloween is such a fun festive holiday and one of my favorites to celebrate!

Last year with my other fellow American we tracked down pumpkins at a local market and carved pumpkins together to keep the Halloween spirit alive. Slovenia is not that big on celebrating Halloween, overall Europe has a similar holiday in February called Pust, complete with dressing up and a version of trick-or-treating.

Being the only American this year I decided to bring American Halloween to more foreigners. And the best way to do it, with pumpkin carving, my favorite!!

I started the pumpkin carving extravaganza with Dasa, she is 2 and a half and Cory’s daughter. She was a little pro and I couldn’t believe it was her first pumpkin. She wasn’t shy at all about picking the design she wanted from the internet and then diving in to pull out all of the insides. Sooo cute!

Then with a few of my teammates we carved their first pumpkins as well! There is nothing quite like watching the excitement of choosing a design, turn to seriousness of getting it right and the absolute bliss of watching it come alive when you put the candle inside and turn the lights off. It was such a fun day and all the girls from age 2-24 did a great job on their first pumpkins :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! :)
